EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR YOUR VISIT TO OXFORD CASTLE AND PRISON

Our doors are open and we’re ready to welcome you to Oxford Castle and Prison!

BEFORE YOU BOOK…

1. Book online in advance – each tour has a capacity of 20 people so we recommend booking online to guarantee the tour time that you want and to avoid disappointment. We especially recommend booking in advance during the school holidays as our tours get booked up quickly!
2. Check our opening times & prices – we are open from 10am everyday, however our tour times change depending on what time of year it is. We close every year on 24th, 25th and 26th December. Click here to see our current opening times & prices.
3. Read through our booking terms and conditions – before you book your visit please read through our ts and cs 

AFTER YOU’VE BOOKED…

1. Booking confirmation email – once you have booked you will receive a booking confirmation email confirming the date and time of your visit. Please email us at [email protected] if you have not received this.
2. Plan your visit to us – No parking is available on site. We recommend using one of 5 Oxford Park and Rides which have frequent bus links into the city centre. Seacourt Park and Ride is the closest to the city. Car parks can be found at Oxpens, Worcester Street, Gloucester Green and Westgate Shopping Centre which are all a short walking distance to Oxford Castle. For more details and a map of Oxford’s car parks please visit the Oxford City Council website.
3. Arrival – please arrive 10 minutes before the start of your tour slot so we can ensure that the tour begins on time.
   • Children under 5 years of age will not be permitted access to St George’s Tower due to health and safety regulations.
   • Visitors unable to climb the tower may wait at the bottom with a guardian and watch our “Story of Oxford Castle” video. Once the tour group returns from the Tower, you are then able to re-join your group as the tour continues. To find out more about this policy.
   • Due to the historical nature of the building Prams & Pushchairs do not fit through our doors, so they need to be left in the reception area where they will be looked after by a member of our team.
   • Luggage is not allowed throughout the site, so we ask that you store it in our onsite lockers which are located in the Gift Shop.
   • Pre-booking is recommended as capacity is limited to 20 people per tour.
   • Payment must be made at the time of booking by credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, Switch or Delta). Please note that we do not accept American Express.
   • No dogs are allowed in the attraction, the mound or the gift shop except for guide dogs or assistance dogs.
